September 9- September 13

Hello Parents:

We will be taking our math test for chapter 1 today, (Monday). Scores are posted in Mastery Connect. Students will also be writing their scores in their data binders. I will be sending an account activation email to each of you so you can log in to Mastery Connect and track your child's progress.

I am holding math tutoring Monday-Thursday from 8:15-8:45 AM. If your child would benefit from this, have them come to my outside door and I'll let them in, as the doors to the school are locked. It is vital that students have a firm foundation in math. Fifth grade masters the basics for the rest of their education. Please take advantage of this opportunity!

Orchestra will start this week. This will be held each Monday and Wednesday from 12-12:45. I apologize for any inconvenience for the day changes. I was notified today. Students will need an instrument by September 30.

Here's What's Happening in:

MATH:
We will start Chapter 2: Division, on Tuesday.

CKLA:
We have started Unit 2: Ancient American Civilizations. Students will be learning about the Inca, Maya, and Aztec in South America.
Students will be turning in their personal narratives this week. We will then move on to writing summaries, then compare and contrast essays.

SCIENCE:
We will be learning about learned and instinctive behaviors. Students will also learn about environments, adaptations, and survival.
