January 21-24

Hello Parents:

Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for cold weather. We go outside for recess every day. They can bring a ski cap, gloves, coat, snow pants, boots, scarves, etc. We only have indoor recess if it is snowing/raining a lot, or below freezing. That means we play outside if it is 32 degrees.

Here's What's Happening In...

MATH:
We will be finishing Chapter 6 Tuesday. Students will be bringing home their Chapter 6 Review/Test. Please go over this with your child and check for understanding. We have spent many weeks working on common denominators, equivalent fractions, reducing, and adding and subtracting fractions with regrouping. Some students are still struggling, but I'm confident with practice they will be able to nail this test!

CKLA:
We are continuing reading Don Quixote. Students are loving the adventures he is having. We will be writing a persuasive essay about Don Quixote starting this week. We go through the writing process together.
We will also start reading Wonder as a class. We have read 2 battle books as a class so far, and this will be the third. Please continue to encourage your child to read these at home.

SCIENCE:
We have finished our rotation with magnetism and electricity. Students will rotate to Mr. Garfield to learn about landforms.

HISTORY:
We will continue to work on our patriot awards. Just a reminder, there is a pizza party with myself and Mr. Ekker in May for earning this award as well as recognition at the awards assembly and their name/picture in the news paper.

UPCOMING DATES:
Feb. 3-7: SEP WEEK
Feb. 10-14: Family Week
Feb. 10.: Art Night
Feb. 14: Valentines Party
Feb. 17: No School
