Hello
Parents:
Welcome
to 2020! I hope you had a great holiday break. Just a reminder, the weather is
pretty cold and unpredictable. We have
outdoor recess every day. Make sure your child comes to school with a coat,
gloves, a hat, and shoes for playing in the snow.
Here’s
What’s Happening in…
MATH:
We will start Chapter 6: Adding and Subtracting
Fractions. This can be challenging for some students. It is so important that
they know their multiplication facts. Please practice these at home.
I will also be sending unfinished classwork home as
homework. I allow 30 minutes before class starts to work on “bellwork” which is
the homework page for Go Math. I also give a lot of time to work during math
time as well as support. I am also doing math groups Monday-Thursday from
8:15-8:45.
CKLA:
We have started Unit 5: The Adventures of Don
Quixote. This is a very entertaining story about a gentlemen who went crazy
from reading fantasy books. We will also learn about writing fact vs. opinion
papers this month.
Students will also begin writing another opinion
paper this month.
SCIENCE:
Students
are still working with Mrs. Hunter to learn Magnetism and Electricity.
Upcoming
Dates:
January 20: No School Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 31: Book Club (Optional)
February 3-7: SEP Week
